Resilience Skills
There are 7 different resilience skills that are used to cope with problems and overcome adversities. These are real-time resilience, put it into perspective, problem solving, energy management, detect icebergs, avoid thinking traps, and ABC (Adversity, Beliefs, Consequences). All the different skills focus on different ways to overcome challenges that you are faced with in everyday life.
Real-time Resilience
Real-time resilience is the resilience skill of being able to shut down any other thoughts and focus completely on the task at hand.
Put it into Perspective
By putting things into perspective we can improve the problem by identifying the worst and best outcomes in a situation. We can evaluate exactly how bad or good the situation is in the scheme of things.
Problem Solving
Problem solving is a valuable skill in overcoming adversities as problem solving enables us to accurately identify the problem and find solutions for that problem.
Energy Management
Energy management enables us to regulate our emotions and energy levels to enable us to keep calm and remain at an optimum performance level to help solve the problem encountered.
Detect Icebergs
Detecting icebergs is the resilience skill of being able to identify your personal beliefs and values encourage your emotions in relation to the adversity faced.
Avoid Thinking Traps
Avoiding thinking traps is being able to identify thinking patterns that make the problem worse. These thinking patterns include jumping to conclusions, mind reading, me me me, them them them, always always always, and eveything everything everything.
ABC
The ABC model (Adversity, Beliefs, Consequences) is used to identify your thoughts and consequences and how they impact on the problem.
